Alla luce di questo, ovviamente, David Walsh si scatena su Twitter: “Ecco una domanda per Hein Verbruggen e Pat McQuadi: se la Nike dice che le prove sono ‘insormontabili’, che cosa state aspettando? Ecco un consiglio per l’UCI: la grossa nave sta affondando e gli sponsor disperati si stanno dirigendo verso le scialuppe di salvataggio. Cosa avete intenzione di fare?” (Cycling News)

La Sky fa un’ulteriore passo avanti contro il doping: “Nelle prossime settimane, parleremo con ogni singolo membro del team e chiederemo a tutti, ad ogni livello della squadra, di sottoscrivere un impegno per una politica onesta e chiara, chiederemo che confermino di non avere alcun coinvolgimento, passato o presente, con il doping.

Da un articolo Gazzetta, emergerebbe un giro losco di soldi che, secondo la procura di Padova, sarebbe riconducibile ad associazione a delinquere e riciclaggio, facente capo a Michele Ferrari ed al figlio Stefano.

Il “giro” ammonterebbe ad una trentina di milioni di Euro (*): secondo la tesi, Ferrari intercettava i soldi tramite società estere con cui corridori e team firmavano contratti “di immagine” falsi e nei quali venivano fatti confluire i soldi per le pratiche dopanti, convogliati dalle vittorie/risultati ottenuti con il doping stesso. Ferrari tratteneva il 6% per i suoi servigi e restituiva il rimanente, sempre su conti esteri, in modo che corridori o team potessero usufruire di queste somme in barba al fisco.
